Sasikala S. Vellodi

Kathakali artist

A distinguished Kathakali artist from Kochi, Kerala, Sasikala S. Vellodi is known for her expressive artistry, graceful stage presence and deeply evocative portrayals of female characters.

Beginning her artistic journey with Mohiniyattam, she was later drawn to the powerful world of Kathakali. She trained under Kathakali maestro Kalamandalam E. Vasudevan Nair and subsequently received advanced training from the legendary Padma Shri Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair.

Sharing the Cultural Heritage of Kerala

Sasikala’s contribution extends beyond individual stage performances. She organises and curates cultural programmes for the Tourism Department and for cultural organisations in India and abroad. Through performances, workshops and cultural collaborations, she continues to introduce audiences to the beauty, discipline and expressive richness of Kerala’s classical arts.

Her artistic journey is one of dedication—preserving a timeless tradition while allowing every character and emotion to speak meaningfully to contemporary audiences.
